Learn how to clean your tires in 4 easy steps

You’ve cleaned your car inside and out, removing any residual crumbs and bothersome smudges on the windshield – but how are your tires doing? There’s a strong probability that all of that wear and tear has left your tires in desperate need of some TLC! Cleaning your vehicle’s tires is simple and can be completed in four simple steps.

IN JUST FOUR STEPS, LEARN HOW TO CLEAN CAR TIRES

The only portion of your car that makes touch with the road is your tires. As a result, they’re frequently the first to get filthy! While a little dirt will not hurt, what’s behind the dirt and grime could — imagine nails or sidewall fissures, and Low or uneven tread wear are also issues. To decide if it’s time for new tires from Firestone Complete Auto Care, follow these four simple actions to make your tires squeaky clean.

1. COLLECT ALL OF YOUR MATERIALS AND TOOLS.

You’ll need a bucket, microfiber cloths, a hose, and tyre cleaning spray nozzle, and a soft-bristled car tyre cleaning brush to begin the tire-washing operation along with car tyre cleaning products. Use a light-duty pressure washer, a waxing mitt, and a tyre cleaning brush for a thorough clean.

Dish soap, warm water, and wheel wax are all tyre cleaning liquids/solutions. If you’re looking for a natural way to clean automobile tires, try a 70/30 mixture of white vinegar and baking soda.

2. RINSE EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY.

After you’ve gathered your equipment and materials, use your spray nozzle or the lowest pressure washer setting to rinse away any loose dirt (if you have one). To remove the most filth from the interior of the rim, work the water from many angles–above, below, and both sides.

3. EXTREMELY WASH AND SCRUB THE TIRE.

Scrub the tire’s surface well after rinsing it. To avoid tire filth dripping onto a clean wheel face, start with the tires and work your way to the wheels. Scrub the tire with a bristles brush and warm water and dish soap (about a tablespoon of soap per gallon of water). Allow the soap mixture to remain on the tire for a few minutes to soften any stuck-on filth. Repeat the scrubbing and rinsing as needed.

Once your tires are gleaming, you may begin washing the wheel’s surface. Wet the wheel face with warm, soapy water and clean everything down with your brush. Pour equal parts white vinegar and water into a spray bottle and spritz onto the wheels to melt away stains if you want to use a natural cleaning solution on your chrome wheels.

To tackle hard places on the wheels, use a smaller brush, then thoroughly dry both the tire and the wheel with a clean, microfiber towel.

4. ADD WAX FOR ADDED GLOSS.

While a wax coating isn’t strictly necessary, it’s the perfect finishing touch to make your tires shine. Apply a cream or paste wax with a waxing mitt for best results and follow the instructions on the packaging. Give it a final polish with a microfiber cloth after applying the wax, and marvel at the wonderful sheen!

WHY SHOULD YOUR TIRES BE CLEANED REGULARLY?

If you want your automobile to appear its best, clean your tires! Because your tires are the only element of your car that touches the road when you’re driving, they may demand a little more attention for keeping them cleaner than the rest of your vehicle.

Apart from the fact that filthy wheels are unsightly, washing your tires is also an excellent strategy to prevent corrosion and other types of damage. Allowing dirt and grime to accumulate over an extended period can cause your wheel finishes to peel and even make your rims more porous (which could create tire pressure leaks).

Cleaning your tires on a bi-monthly schedule will help eliminate the salt, dust, and oil accumulation that is a natural part of driving and keep your car in peak condition for years.

ADDITIONAL CAR TIRES CLEANING ADVICE

Commercial car washes are obligated by law to recycle grey water and dispose of cleaning products appropriately, so try to wash your car there.

Before applying any cleaning agents, make sure your tires have cooled down.

Use separate towels to clean and dry your tires, and do not use the same towels to clean other elements of your car.
